The Greater Officers
Seneschal, the Herald - Black Wing Puirsuivant, the Knight Marshal, the Minister of Arts & Sciences, the Reeve, the Chronicler,and the Constable.

The Lesser Officers

Keeper of the Lists, the Captain of Archers, the Chatelaine, the Keeper of Regalia, and the Rapier Marshal.


The Officers are responsible for carrying out the affairs of Aneala. They are additionally responsible to their corresponding Kingdom Officers in matters of policy and administration of their offices.

All officers must be at least family or associate members of the SCA with immediate access to the
newsletters provided by a subscribing membership while they are officers.

 

THE SENESCHAL


The Seneschal is the chief administrative officer of the Barony and serves as the principal mundane legal representative of Aneala, they receive reports from all other Officers on the status of their office, and make such reports as may be required by the Kingdom Seneschal and Baron & Baroness of Aneala. Generally they also organise, schedule or oversee diverse activities within the Barony, the autocrats of the various events and happenings report to the seneschal and effectively are the seneschal's deputies.

 

THE CHATELAINE


The Chatelain reports to the Seneschal, and is responsible for welcoming newcomers and answering their questions, encouraging the growth of the Barony, and providing hospitality in the area of Garb and Feast equippage till you can outfit yourself, they also loan out stuff to forgetful people. Generally if you need to know something the Chatelaine can point you in the right direction and at a friendly face.

 

BLACK WING PUIRSUIVANT


The Baronial Herald - Black Wing Puirsuivant is the principal heraldic officer in the Barony, and is the Head of the College of Heralds in Aneala. Heralds are responsible for providing the Crown's voice at events, and they assist you with the registration of names, arms, devices and badges. Black Wing Puirsuivant maintains the Order of Precedence for Aneala, and provides new ceremony and protocol for Aneala as requested by the Baron and Baroness's. You'll see heralds assist the Baron and Baroness's by organizing court and also making diverse announcements during events. You silence is required if they prefix an announcement with Oh Yea, Oh Yea, Oh yea.

 

THE KNIGHT MARSHAL


The Knight Marshal is the principal martial officer of the Barony, and heads the Marshallate in Aneala. The Knight Marshal is responsible for encouraging the development of safety and chivalry on the field, and maintenance, publication and enforcement of the Lochac Kingdom standards for construction and use of weapons and armour. Marshals monitor fighting on the field and carry out pre fight checks of armour, weapons and equippage, they have the power to remove fighters from the field and suspend a fighters participation for just cause.

 

THE MINISTER OF ARTS & SCIENCES


The Minister of Arts & Sciences is the chief artistic/ scientific officer of the Barony, and carries responsiblity for the encouragement of Medieval Arts & Sciences in Aneala, they provide advice on who to talk to or what to do/ read and the conducting of Arts and Sciences Competitions. 

 

THE REEVE


The Reeve is the chief financial officer of the Barony, and is responsible for collecting, safeguarding and disbursing the monies of the Barony, maintaining the records of the monies and properties of Aneala, receiving financial reports from the Baronial Officers at least annually, and from Autocrats of Anealan events recieve reports four weeks after the event.

 

THE CHRONICLER


The Chronicler is responsible for the monthly publication of the Baronial newsletter The Vine, and other such publications as produced in Aneala. This involves chasing contributors, encouraging officers to write, and distributing the Vine as far as humanly possible. The Chronicler helps ensure that any other publications such as pamphlets or handouts published or distributed by the Barony fall within SCA guidelines.  

 

THE CONSTABLE


The Constable is the chief security officer of the Barony, and is responsible for the maintenance of order and security amongst the people at events, the manning of the site entrance at events, and providing such general indemnities and roster of attendees as are required by the Corpora and filing these as required by Corpora. They collect lost property, and generally know where everything is or should be. They assist autocrats by ensuring Kingdom Laws regarding various events and such are adhered to and are the first point of contact for mundane law enforcement. They are also our fire monitors, and lifters of heavy things providing assistance as required to Chirugeons and Marshals etc...

 

THE KEEPER OF THE LISTS


The Keeper of the Lists or List Keeper serves under the Knight Marshal and is responsible for the organization and co-ordination of Tourneys and Tourniers as directed by the Baron & Baroness and in co-operation with the College of Heralds and the Marshallate, they check of fighting cards and maintain the records and results of combats in the whole, be it challenge or in a Tourney.

 

CAPTAIN OF ARCHERS


The Captain of Archers serves under the Knight Marshal and is responsible for encouraging the development of safety and chivalry on the field in all actions in Aneala involving archery and other projectile weapons, in co-operation with the Marshallate where appropriate, and the maintenance, publication and enforcement of the Lochac Kingdom Standards for construction and use of projectile weapons and projectile armour.

 

RAPIER MARSHAL


The Rapier Marshal serves under the Knight Marshal and is responsible for, encouraging the development of safety and chivalry on the field in all actions in Aneala involving rapier combat, in co-operation with the Marshallate where appropriate, and the maintenance, publication and enforcement of the West Kingdom Standards for construction and use of rapier weapons and rapier armour including such changes as may be approved by the Crown for use in Lochac.

 

KEEPER OF REGALIA


The Keeper of Regalia shall serve directly under the Baron & Baroness's and shall have authority regarding the maintenance, storage and transport of the Baronial Regalia. If the Baron and Baroness's need it done this officer is their first assistant and generally organises the tendering or purchase of items or projects.
